The WBNC was created in December 2002 after its transition from a Bush Nursing Hospital. |
A strong media campaign at the time of closure of the hospital gave the WBNC national publicity, including Dr Dave's Story on the ABC TV s Australian Story. National media attention was also focussed on Walwa when Melbourne identity Mr Ron Walker intervened in the process. See Media
The new WBNC redevelopment (refer Services) is now complete. The new services are being developed in line with our philosophy as a primary care centre. The WBNC has created a highly innovative multi-purpose facility including an emergency 24hr /7 day presence, community nursing, co-located Walwa Medical Practice, a new community centre with gym, a rural transaction centre including WAW Credit Union presence, business centre and technology room.
The WBNC is also closely linked with the adjacent independent living units (see Riverview Independent Living Units) and further development (Mountain View) is currently being planned around that complex.
