WBNC Provides
24 Hour Accident and Emergency Service

There is a trained registered nurse on duty and within 5 minutes response time outside WBNC business hours and that nurse is always available by calling the hospital number (02) 6037 1220

If attending the WBNC in person, please push the red button at the emergency entry and wait until the nurse answers (the button diverts to a mobile phone so wait for it to connect). The nurse will then speak to you & arrange attendance.

The nurse will usually contact the doctor on duty and discuss treatment options. If the doctor is required, this will be arranged, however this is not normally necessary. Where the patient requires transfer for further care, the nurse will call an ambulance and provide necessary stabilisation care in the interim.

Also note that it is often advisable to ring 000 if you have an emergency at home or some distance from the centre. This will activate the Rural Ambulance Victoria service and also the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The CERT service can provide fast and appropriate first stage treatment on-site before a decision on transfer is made.

Please also call this 000 number if you come across any accident requiring emergency medical assistance.

If you are in any doubt about what to do in an emergency ring (02) 6037 1220 and speak to WBNC staff, nurse or medical officer.

Please remember to give your name, location & detail of the incident. Stay on the line so that we can continue to help you.
