A G.P. is sought to join the current Primary Care Team. This position can be full time or part time with any contribution considered from a number of days per week to for instance 3 months on and 3 months off.

The Walwa Medical Clinic

The practice comprises of band new purpose built consulting rooms co-located and operating in partnership with the Walwa Bush Nursing Centre. This partnership truly enables a focus on preventive medicine, population and community health by providing direct access to practice nursing services, district nursing, home and community care, meals on wheels, community car, health education and assessment, continuum of care as well as health promotion programs such as weight training, Tai Chi for arthritis, weight reduction classes a community centre with gymnasium and a well equipped 24 hour Accident and Emergency department (staffed 24/7 by highly trained WBNC nurses).

Walwa achieved prominent media coverage when it's Bush Nursing Hospital was threatened with closure in 2002. Subsequently whilst bed based services were ceased we obtained funding from both Federal and State Governments which have provided the vast range of services listed above.

Although Walwa is probably the smallest town in Victoria to have a medical practice, patients are drawn form a wide surrounding area. This has created a very profitable business, providing an ideal opportunity for an incoming G.P. to design a rewarding and balanced lifestyle.

Walwa is nestled in the valley of the Murray River in the foot hills of the Alps. The scenery is stunning. It is an ideal location for activities such as skiing, bush walking, kayaking and cycling. Although providing the peace and quiet of the country, it is only an hour to the quickly developing regional centre of Albury Wodonga.

The management of the Walwa Bush Nursing Centre (WBNC) is exceptionally dynamic and entrepreneurial. The partnership between the Walwa Medical Practice and the WBNC has produced a team based approach to primary care that has achieved national recognition. (The Walwa Medical Clinic won the National AGPAL award for Community involvement in 2006)

An example of this progressive approach is the memorandum of understanding between the WBNC and the Walwa Primary School that provides programs such as "fitkids". This fitness based program builds positive relationships with medical and nursing staff, whilst encouraging participation in a number of fitness and health cooking/eating initiatives.
